Stunning Arts & Crafts Silver Claret Jug Wine Ewer


Description
A beautiful and very striking silver lidded claret jug in the arts and crafts style of round bellied baluster form with applied raised straps around the belly and neck, flared to a spout, and with hinged domed cover with acorn shape knop. A swan neck handle wrapped in woven raffia with stunning split vine leaf terminals. The thumb rest/lid pull is a dainty heart shape. There is a small, attractive engraved crest to the front of a lion. Hallmarked for Sheffield 1897, maker James Dixon & Sons.It measures 26.8cm (10 1/2") high and 11.5cm (4 1/2") wide and weighs 655g/21.1ozt. It has an easy 900ml capacity.
Condition is excellent, ready for use and display, sure to be the star of your dining table.
