Description

A pretty John Rose Coalport dessert serving dish of lobed oblong shape. The walls are enamelled with a powder blue ground, reserving detailed relief moulded decoration of arabesque shaped acanthus leaves, twining flowering vines and ribbons. The large central reserve is edged in gilt and painted in bright pastels with stylised garden flowers. Finished with a gilded rim. Unmarked, c.1820-1830.

Reference: Coalport & Coalbrookdale Porcelains, Godden, colour plate III for a plate in the same pattern. I also own another example with a Felspar "Society Of Arts" mark, c.1820-1830.

It measures 23.2cm (9 1/8") by 21.3cm (8 3/8") wide and 4.5cm (1 3/4") high.

In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. The gilding on the rim has been professionally refreshed and displays beautifully. Very minor handling wear.
