Description

A stunning quality Edwardian globular cut glass dressing table jar with fluted detail to the walls leading down to four squared feet. Mounted in silver with a hinged cover inset with a superb red guilloche enamel with starburst design. This extraordinary early red enamel is rarely found and a truly striking pop of rich colour against the silver. Made in Austria, c.1900 by the noted silversmith Georg Adam Scheid who specialised in small fine quality silver and enamel pieces such as cases, boxes and vanity pieces such as this. The mount and cover marked GAS and the Austrian hallmark for 900 standard silver.

It measures 6.5cm (2 1/2") high and 7.5cm (3") wide. The silver mount is fixed to the jar and it has a generous 2.5cm (1") central aperture to easily decant face or scented creams, etc.
