Chelsea Derby Porcelain Coffee Cup & Saucer c.1770


Description
A pretty Chelsea-Derby period coffee cup and saucer well painted with floral sprays and sprigs in various sizes and trimmed with a striking decoration to the inside and out of both rims in pink and purple enamel with a gilded garland running underneath. There is a small floral spray inside the base and, following in the Chelsea manner, a tiny green sprig covering up a small firing blemish on the inside wall.Simple grooved strap handle to the cup. Both pieces marked in gold underneath. c.1770.
The cup measures 6.6cm (2 9/16") high and 6.4cm (2 1/2") wide. The saucer measures 12.1cm (4 3/4") wide.
In excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration. Minimal handling wear but there are a couple of very fine craze lines to the cup in places. The gold mark to the saucer is a bit rubbed.
