We are offering for sale this attractive pair of Brass Art Nouveau Candlesticks in the style of a WMF design from 1906. The originals of the design in pewter or silver plate with the WMF markings can sell for circa £1K, while these later copies of the design would still add elegance to a room for a lover of Art Nouveau for a more reasonable figure.

The candlesticks have flared, pierced bases below tall, slender stems, terminating in pierced knops below the drip pans and sconces, both of which unscrew for ease of cleaning. These candlesticks have been professionally polished. These have been in our possession since the 1990s.

It is possible to tell the difference between the originals and these later replicas by putting WMF Art Nouveau Candlestick into google images and looking closely at those pictures that show items with the WMF mark. You will see that the sinuous stems that form the pierced portion of the flared base actually overlap each other, while the replicas are flat. The design of the pierced stems on the base point in opposite directions while the replicas have four identical sides. The design number of these WMF sticks is 92, which can often be found inside the base, while the WMF marking may be on the outside or inside.
