We are pleased to offer this wonderful Art Deco sculpture in patinated metal by the French Sculptor M. Leducq of a silver gilt seagull on the crest of a silver coloured wave. The Sculptor has signed the figure M. Leducq on the surface of the wave, as shown, and it is marked FRANCE on the side. The whole stands on an oval polished black marble base. The piece separates into two pieces for ease of shipping.

We have found people listing sculptures online by a Marcel Michel Edward Marie Leducq and quoting the dates 1879-1955, giving a few biographical details and giving the source as Benezit. We have checked in Benezit and the Marcel Leduc listed there, firstly gives no dates, and secondly has no q on the end of his name, so we will not quote them for this item, as we cannot verify them.

However, we have found over 50 animalier sculptures signed M. Leducq online at one of the auction sites, although they state that his Christian name is Michel and his dates 1879-1955. We do not know what the M. in our signature stands for, but the signature is the same as those shown online.

Condition: Very good for its age. There is some pitting to the metal. There is one small chip to the top surface of one end of the black marble base and a few very minute nibbles of no significance.
