This is an absolutely fabulous watercolour of a Tricolour Border Collie by the artist Helen S. Jones, who has signed the painting in the lower right hand corner and entitled it in the lower left 'The Good Shepherd'. Although the majority of Border Collies are black and white, there are, in fact, many colour permutations, Tricolour being one of them, where the black and white predominate, but there are tan patches.

We cannot praise enough the character that the artist has achieved that is brimming out of this portrait and the collie seems to be about to leap out of the frame and go bounding across the fields.

Unfortunately, we have been unable to find any information about this talented artist, which is a great shame, other than the fact from the auction house catalogue that she was born in 1953.

The painting is simply mounted with a single ivory mount and is framed in a 1 1/8" pale golden wood frame, which suits it very well. It will be supplied wired and ready to hang.
