Description

This is a lovely Still Life Oil Painting on canvas by the artist S. Waters, who has signed the painting in the lower left corner and dated it 1903. The painting depicts a blue ceramic vase with gold band and detailing, filled with chrysanthemums in differing hues ranging fro white through to deep wine colour. There are more stems laying on the table, to add to the arrangement.

The puzzling thing is that we can find no trace of this artist, not in our reference books, or on any of the online auction reference sites, although if this painting is the work of an amateur, they were a very talented one. Unfortunately, as we do not know the Christian name, we do not know whether the artist is male or female, which stops us fron looking up information on the genealogical sites. The painting must, therefore, stand on its merits, which is the best reason to purchase art anyway.

The painting has been newly framed in a black wooden frame with reddish highlights, which tones with the painting very well. It will be supplied with all new brass fittings, new brass picture wire and will be ready to hang.
