Description

This is a very attractive, circa 1900, Sevres style Jewellery Box or Casket. It has a pink ground, with vignettes of courting couples around the sides and a large scene of a gallant offering flowers to his lady on the lid. The interior of the lid and the body have sprays of roses. We describe it as Sevres style, because we have looked up the mark and it looks similar to the faux Sevres marks, so we prefer to err on the side of caution. It is part transfer, part hand painted, with the gilding and 'jewelling' executed by hand. It has bronze ormolu fittings.

Condition: Very good. There is no damage and the catch and hinges are in working order.
