Description

A fine quality Georgian bracket clock by Thomas Howard of London, circa 1800.

The finely figured flame mahogany break arch case, inset at the front and sides with cast brass fishscale silk lined sound frets, standing on a raised plinth and resting on brass ogee bracket feet.

The arched top with brass bound single pad and carrying handle, above an opening full door with convex glass, cast brass bezel and brass mounts. Original locks.

The convex painted white dial with Roman numeral chapter, signed to the centre Thos Howard, London.

The fully restored fine quality substantial double fusee eight day movement striking the hours and repeating at will on a large bell, with strike / strike silent facility.

The backplate with beautiful border engraving with the pendulum similarly engraved with pendulum holdfast, knurled rating nut and engraved calibration.

Blued steel hands.

An elegant well proportioned clock with a wonderfully figured mahogany case of excellent colour and patination.

All of our clock movements are restored by our horologist who works exclusively for us.
Our horologist is a Fellow of the British Horological Institute (FBHI), having 35 years of full time professional engagement in the repair & restoration of clocks, watches, music boxes & barometers. He was the recipient of the 1977 Worshipful Company of Clockmakers Bronze Medal.
