It’s a pleasure to offer this stunning burr walnut with brass inlay bracket clock to the market.
Scottish made clocks are known for their quality movements and cases, this clock is no exception and a great example. The colour and grain in the timber used to make the case is just remarkable and gives the clock a real warm feel. The elegant brass inlay under the dial and to the scrolled corners at the top of the clock surrounding the ivory inlaid. The case is also surrounded with eboniesed mouldings and boxwood stringing.
For a case to be made of this quality and with such detail the movement would have to equal the quality. The 5 pillar, 8 day duration, double chain driven fusee movement is of fantastic quality striking the hour on a bottom mounted bell. The clock has been fully serviced and cleaned by Westmorland glass in chesterfield who specialise in bevelled glass replacement and clock cleaning.
The off white/cream 6 inch dial is signed James Christie Perth. James Christie is recorded as working from the high street in Perth from 1820-43 and also at St. John street Perth until 1860.
I have tried to include as much detail in my pictures as possible but they aren’t of the best quality.
The dimensions of the clock are as follows….
45cm high (49cm high on the bracket)
26cm wide (29cm wide on the bracket)
14cm deep.
Any potential clients are very welcome to view the clock prior to purchase (or pay on delivery)to ensure that they are satisfied with their purchase.
This clock is much nicer in the flesh and looks superb .
