This is a most beautiful repeating carriage clock of French manufacture dating circa 1880.
Bamboo style carriage clocks are uncommon items which are sought by collectors but this example is one of the best I we ever seen due to its beautiful porcelain panels depicting two courting birds resulting in the chicks hatching and being fed . I have enclosed close up images of the panels which show their detail.
The bamboo style case of typical form is very nice in that it retains the vast majority of original gilding which is virtually intact apart from a little rubbing on the very top of the case
The 8 day duration movement strikes the hours and half hours on a coiled gong and has a push button repeat facility.
The images should show prospective buyers all they need to see but a personal inspection is very welcome.
This is is 7 1/4 inches high with the handle raised. It is 3 3/4 wide. The depth is 3 1/4 inches.
The overall condition is excellent with the movement professionally serviced .It will delight the most discerning client.
It has obviously been well cared for and cherished all its life.
