Here is the opportunity to purchase a quality ebonised fruit wood table clock signed on the dial Samuel Swain. Samuel swain was recorded as working in London around the mid 18th century.
As you can see from the photographs the case is in great condition, the original brass side and frontal frets are in fantastic condition and lined with a faded red material which adds to the fact that this clock is in a untouched state. I have purposely not done any work to the case or the brass work to maintain that original untouched order. should this work be required by the buyer id be happy to discuss this with them.
The 8 day, hour striking, pull repeat double fusee movement is in perfect working order having been fully serviced and restored by P.K clocks of Mansfield. Originally when the movement was made it had a verge escapement, some time in the distant past the movement has been converted to a anchor escapement, this isn't a uncommon practice as it is thought the anchor escapement is a more reliable and accurate method of the time keeping. The engraving to the back plate and holding brackets is somewhat simple but very much suitable for the clock.
The clock strikes hourly on a bell with the option of silencing the strike with a turn of the strike silent hand in the subsidiary dial. The dial is in fantastic condition with no major tarnishing, the tiny date aperture to the bottom of the matted brass dial is a lovely little touch.
Overall this clock is a fantastic example and would not look out of place in any hall way, study or dinning / living room.
I have tried to include as much detail in my description and photos as i can. should any interested parties wish to ask questions or to view the clock via a video calling platform or in the flesh i very much welcome them too.

I will also provide a 12 months guarantee under these circumstances. This is the same service that is provided by a high street retailer without the customer having to pay for the overheads
