Here we have for sale, this fine Victorian Rosewood quarter striking 8 day English table clock.
The dial is signed G.E .Frodsham Gracechurch street London.
George Frodsham was born in 1831 and successor of John Frodsham in 1864. In 1889 G.E Frodsham announced he was the clock maker to the Queen , Prince of Wales and the Royal observatory. He later retired in 1901.
Being clock maker to the queen the quality of the clocks he produced and the high quality maintenance he provided would of been outstanding this is shown in many of his clocks with this being no exception.
The five pillar 8 day double fusee chain driven movement is of fantastic quality, striking every quarter of a hour on two large bells and the our on one bell (please see the video) the movement is in fantastic working order having been run with no faults at all. The 7.5inch cream painted dial is also in fantastic condition complimented the pierced blued steel hands , protected with a brass bezel and bevelled glass.
The rose wood case is in fantastic condition with crisp foliage carving to the top of the case.
The case maintains its original finish having been cleaned to a high standard and given a coat of high quality protective wax to protect the rosewood for years to come.
Overall the clock is a fantastic example, I would welcome any interested parties to come and view the clock to see how nice it really is in the flesh.
