A powerful East Asian hanging scroll depicting a tiger poised on a rocky outcrop beneath sweeping pine branches. The artist captures the animal mid‑roar, its jaws open and muscles tensed, conveying strength, alertness and raw vitality. The fur is rendered with confident, dynamic strokes in rich tones of ochre, black and white, while the bright, focused eye adds an arresting intensity to the composition. The rocky ledge and pine boughs frame the tiger with classic symbolic elements — the pine representing resilience and longevity, the tiger embodying courage, protection and authority. Together they create a scene that feels both dramatic and auspicious. Above the painting, a vertical inscription in bold calligraphy is accompanied by red seals, providing balance and authenticity. The scroll is mounted on an ornate brocade border in green and gold tones, with plain silk sections above and below, all in very good condition and ready to hang.
