Description
Fine 19th century bronze bust of the French noblewoman Diane de Poitiers (1500-1566) after the 16th century original by Jean Goujon.Diane de Poitiers was a courtier who wielded much influence over Henry II not only as his adviser but also as his mistress until the King’s death in 1559.
The bronze with a dark patination depicts Diane with elaborate braided tresses and is mounted on a round socle above a square base.
Very good condition throughout.
