Description

A decorative pair of solid brass door stops cast as winged putti in the Rococo taste. Each cherub is shown in animated contrapposto, framed by scrolling acanthus leaves and fruiting vines, and holding a garland of grapes—traditional symbols of abundance and prosperity. An ornate scroll-form element rises behind each figure, lending height and sculptural presence.
The figures are mounted on substantial oval bases, providing the weight and stability required for functional use as door stops. The brass surfaces exhibit a rich, warm tone with attractive patina and light surface wear consistent with age and use.
