Description

A hand-crafted wooden box in the Tramp Art tradition, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Constructed using layered and chip-carved cigar box wood, the exterior is richly decorated with notched and pyramid-shaped carving, forming a geometric relief pattern.
• Interior: Lined with dark blue/green velvet fabric, with a fitted lift-up lid incorporating a framed mirror.
• Exterior: Features stepped and notched carved decoration typical of Tramp Art design, with a central escutcheon/keyhole to the front.
• Form: Rectangular with hinged lid, raised on a conforming base.
• Condition: Good overall with expected wear consistent with age, some fabric wear and minor losses to carving lock present but key absent.
• Dimensions: ( 20cm height, 30cm width, 19cm depth).
