Born in Varallo in Italy, daughter of the painter Jean Georges Daniche (spelling Tanisch in the civil status), a lineage of artists, she worked a lot with her sister, Ursule and on religious subjects collaborated with her brother Clement and his father. The thorough study deserved by the dynasty of Tanisch, entitled The Tanisch, A family of painters of the eighteenth century in Alsace is due to Alain Luttringer. The first of the dynasty, Jean, was born around 1700 near Trierin the Holy Roman Empire. He then resides at Varallo in the Pimont no later than 1736. On September 5, 1737, his daughter Monique was born there. The Tanisch family left the region before the end of the year 1744 to settle in Strasbourg, where were born other children including two sons who became painters as well. While Jean Tanisch kept for the rest of his career the surname of Tanisch, it was not the same for his daughter who signs Daniche some of her works, probably in a concern for integration into French society. It is in the academic work of Alain Luttringer, already quoted, that we take these few references on Monique Daniche and her sister Ursule, who was also a painter their formation took place in the paternal workshop, probably in the 1760s. Tradition made Ursule a mere collaborator of Monique, the only one to sign their works. Alain Luttringer considers that Monique Daniche wasthe most talented student of Jean Tanisch and, moreover, the only female painter of scale of the eighteenth century Alsatian. Single, she will reach the advanced age of 87 years. More focused on religious art in the early part of his career (between 1760 and 1790), the artist focuses more particularly on the genre of portraiture in the second part of it (between 1790 and 1820).
