Description

A Georgian single tea caddy in goncalo alves and birds eye maple veneers. Goncalo alves is also known as “tigerwood”. The top of the caddy is cross banded with birds eye maple veneer, a sign of quality. Dating from the early nineteenth century and with an unusual combination of veneers. It has bone escutcheon and key tag the key locks the box. With normal wear all over, however the interior lead lining has been neatly renewed. With an ebony knob to the birds eye maple lid inside and nonpareil paper in the lid. Original green baize lining to the base. Measures 4 1/8″ x 5 1/16″ x 4 1/16″ or 105mm x 128mm x 103mm. A very lovely caddy in sound condition.
