19th C Staffordshire Jug As Nelson 30cms Height
Made in Staffordshire, c.1865.
This antique figural toby jug is modeled as Admiral Horatio Nelson (British, 1758-1805), who died at the Battle of Trafalgar. He stands on a grass base. Having lost his arm his right sleeve is empty. Wearing a blue coat, yellow waistcoat and white breeches and holding a telescope. The bicorne hat forms the pouring spout. Plinth marked: Nelson.

This jug was modeled on the statue of Nelson on top of the Column in Trafalgar Square, London, built between 1840-43
