Description

A rare 17th century carved box of good colour with tiulp motif and vacant cartouche to front with punch work throughout. Inside the box the vacant compartments where the scales would have been housed.

The delightful period carving with scrolling acanthus leaf throughout is contemporary with the box - c. 1680.

A truly rare, perhaps unique, piece.

With old repair patched in to one end and replaced moulding left hand side of lid.
