Description

A delightfully rare box in the original paint. The box has the original time worn lettering to the front: "Reserve Quilling Nets'. Quilling or paper filligree involves the use of strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and stuck together to create decorative images. In the 18th century, quilling became popular in Europe where ladies often practiced the art. Quilling also spread to the Americas and there are a few examples from Colonial times.

The box, for the storage of quilling nets, is in the original paint with wear to the front where it has been repeatedly opened over the years. The well textured lettering is clearly visible.

A wonderfully decorative and rare survivor. Old split to top with historic repair.
