Description

A rare handwritten advertising poster that was intended for the printers to convert into a printed poster. The subject matter relates to the auctioning of the tenancy of tollgate houses at Leek Gate and Flash Bar in Staffordshire. These tenancies could have proved quite lucrative with the income from the turnpikes, hence auctioning them.

Posters from the period on this subject matter are rare, the original hand written versions are even rarer. To the back are the instructions to the printers to produce a 100 copies.

Lovely subject matter and a super rare surviving example.
