A good George III oak bench

Description

There are benches and then there are benches. And then there is the bench. And it's a cracker. One of the nicest oak benches we've seen in a long time with just fabulous colour and patination. Just shy of six feet long, the 2 1/4" thick slab of oak stands over splayed and chamfered legs. The wear to the edges along the edges of the bench were many many pairs of legs have rubbed against it over the last two hundred and thirty years or so is a lovely feature. The A frame supporting stretchers to the legs are a later feature. This is a very solid and sturdy (and heavy) 18th century oak bench and we just love it.
