Superb Georgian tavern settle

Photos

Description

An extremely fine example of a late Georgian settle. While this provincial settle is very much in the 18th century settle style, with traces of the original green paint beneath the well patinated 19th century scumble finish, the overall feel of the piece, the cut of the planks, suggest a very early 19th century date. The patination and colour are deep and rich and truly fabulous. The seat, 2” thick slab, has a deep and rich patina over the earlier green paint. The settle has a slight bow or curve to one end.

A truly stunning provincial settle in fabulous condition.
