Description

This is a good 18th century longcase clock with elegant slim proportions by Charles Louch of St Albans.
The clock has a brass dial with rococo cast brass spandrels and silvered chapter ring enclosing a matted dial centre with shaped name plaque. The dial has decorative cast brass detailing with cherubs riding birds above a pierced cartouche of cherubs in the clouds.
This has an eight day movement with anchor escapement that runs beautifully keeping good time and striking on a bell on the hour every hour.
The handsome case is beautifully decorated with inlaid marquetry in fruitwoods with a central urn, birds, flowers and scrolling leaves which are highlighted with additional hand painted detail throughout.
The clock has a long central door with lock and key and a glazed lenticle to view the pendulum .
This is raised on a plinth base with solid mahogany ball feet.
The clock is in very nice original condition with a good colour and nice antique patina and has really nice proportions being only 204 cms in height 41 wide by 23 cms deep.
