Description

This is a large Mahal carpet with a really attractive design and great country house look dating from around 1900.

The room size carpet has a raspberry field centred by a large floral medallion framed by spandrels and indigo borders of palmettes and flowers, flanked by guard stripes. The Mahal has a great colour combination and good detail to the design which incorporates multiple flower motifs with acanthus leaf scrolls a large central medallion.


Condition:


The carpet is in good useable order overall with some even wear and it has had the odd repair done over the years. The ends are complete and in good order with slight losses to the fringes and the carpet has some small areas of wear to the selvedges.
