A delightful 19th century Chinese gouache watercolour on pith with lovely bold colours dating from around 1870.The still life has chrysanthemum, marigolds and orchids in a wonderful Chinese basket with typical Chinese entwined design to the body. This has a few characterful age related marks to the lower left as seen in the photos. The painting is in an attractive soft coral mount and pale oak frame that suits the work admirably.
A good size, this measures 43 cms by 38 cms overall.
