Description

This a fine and very decorative gilt polychrome coat of arms circa 1890. The solid oak carved panel is attractively hand painted and gilded with Scottish crest with the Latin motto of the Clan Matheson “Fac et Spera “. ( DO AND HOPE ) .
The arms features a central shield surmounted by jousting helmet, surrounded by scrolling acanthus, with the motto above framed in gilded carving. The panel is edged with carved gilded acanthus scrolls with a central gilt crest.
This is a good size for display measuring 116 cms by 55 cms.
