Description

Antique J.C. Vickery Leather Stationery Box with Gilt French Arms on the lid and a red silk Interior, c.1900

A rare example of Edwardian luxury craftsmanship, this gilt leather stationery box was created by J.C. Vickery of Regent Street, London, renowned gold and silversmith to the elite. Vickery’s work is highly prized for its exquisite detailing and association with royal warrants.

This particular piece likely catered to a French clientele, as evidenced by the gilt coat of arms featuring Fleur-de-Lis motifs on the lid and corners. The interior retains its sumptuous original rose-coloured silk damask lining with gold accents, reflecting the height of period elegance.

Condition is excellent overall for its age, with only three minor imperfections: small areas of leather loss on the back base and a slight dent to the left side. Please view all photos for details.
