Description

This is a stunning example of a Regency inlaid workbox. The lid has a hand painted image of two roses amongst foliage surrounded by marquetry. The lid is canter levered covered with alternating upright and down facing triangles, each made from a different type of wood.

The jewellery box is lined with a red suede and rose themed paper. The rosewood that surrounds the box is deep, rich and figured. The warm tones of the woods give the appearance of a glow. The drop ring handles on the sides are in the shape of a two headed eagle and the original gilt still covers them. The box has a working lock and key and sits on brass ball feet.
