A wonderful smart mid-century modern Italian box made from red jasper stone and lined in onyx. A gilt metal hinge joins the top and bottom of the box.Red Jasper is a microcrystalline quartz, known for its vibrant red color caused by iron impurities widely recognized as a "Stone of Vitality".
Dating to the mid twentieth century, c.1950 and remaining in excellent undamaged condition measuring 5 1/8" x 3 1/4" x 1 1/4".
