Description

19th century pair of candlesticks, turned from olive wood. Designed to be carried/travelled with, each candlestick unscrews into 2 parts, the sticks are placed into one of the bases, then the 2 bases screw securely together. Because of their shape, they were known as Brighton Buns. These are a good pair, larger than many, and with an original surface that has been cared for. The only damage is the inevitable burned sconce one has a slight burn, the other a little more.
With "Jerusalem" printed on them, this pair of candlesticks were probably acquired by a traveller to the Holy Land, a popular destination for the Victorians.
