19th Century String Barrel

A mid 19th century string barrel, turned from walnut. It has gilded metal bands and an iron tap and cutter. A base label reads AUSTIN'S DRESSING CASE MANUFACTURERS 6&7 St. ANDREWS STREET DUBLIN. (They are recorded in the Dublin street directory for 1862). The colour and surface is exceptional.DateMid Victorian :
