Description

An elegant early 18th century Italian Sgabello Hall Chair. The early versions of these chairs that were made from the Italian Renaissance onwards were often heavily carved in walnut.
This walnut 18th century example has a simple but strong design. The back is a curved hollowed out plank, inviting rest. The seat and legs are shaped boards, a circular motif carved into the seat and front.
A warm colour and a natural waxed surface shows the beauty of the walnut and the design. Circa 1720
