Description

Perfect for keeping string untangled, this handsome String Box was essential in 19th century shops, where items bought were wrapped and tied with string.
It is turned from lignum vitae, showing the beautiful colours and grain of the wood. The lid has cracked slightly along one of the turnings it is stable and not noticeable. Overall, the box is in very good condition, with a wonderful glowing surface and colour. Circa 1840
