Tudor Boarded Chest Cart Wheel Cross South Wales

Description
Rare 16th Century South Wales Tudor Carved Oak Boarded Chest c1580, the front carved with twin cart wheel cross roundels. The cart wheel cross is a medieval symbol used up until Tudor times, in particular found on the Margam Stones at Margam Abbey in South Wales (reference images 5 and 6)The chest has worn down its sides, the hinges have been replaced and the hasp is lost. Nailed construction. Original lock and plate present. Original lidded till.Payment accepted by direct bank transfer or cheque.
