Description

We have for sale a very pretty and usefully sized mid to late Edwardian Yorkshire arts and crafts oak desk made by the well known cabinet maker and upholsterer Christopher Pratt and Sons of Bradford.

This very eye catching desk is perfect for a home office and will fit into any sized room. It is constructed of quartered oak and consists of a top fitted with a red leather insert over a single long draw to the left and a bank of 4 short drawers to the right all of which are fitted with the original solid brass arts and crafts handles and working original Henry Squire and Sons lever locks. The drawers are all mahogany lined and the underside of the long drawer carries two labels for Christopher Pratt and Sons of Bradford. The locks also carry the patent No. 16112 dating the piece to around 1907.

The desk is 28 inches (71cm) high, 36 inches (91.5cm) wide, 19.5 inches (49.5cm) deep and is in a good to very good antique condition, it has recently been fitted with a new leather insert and new castors. There is, however, a split to to the wooden top towards the left of the leather insert, this is visible in the photographs.
