Description

We have for sale a hard to find and rather lovely Victorian Arts and Scottish Arts and Crafts copper Jacobite inspired photo frame.

This very attractive copper on oak photograph frame is beautifully decorated in repousse with a Scottish Jacobite inspired scene depicting a lady with Scottish scenery and the motto "Will ye no come back again, better lo'erd ye canna be" from the Jacobite song "Will ye no come back again" lamenting the failure of 1745 Highland uprising. The song was actually written in about 1785 and this frame dates from the late Victorian period when Scottish themes became very fashionable because of Queen Victoria's love of Scotland.

This photograph frame is 9.5 inches (24.1cm) high and 7.5 inches (19cm)wide and is in a good condition other than a loss of copper to the bottom right hand corner and the easel back has been refitted to the back with a combination of a resin and a single screw. These faults are reflected in the price,
