Description

We have for sale a very attractive and and rather unusual mid 18th century Georgian English country oak drop-leaf oval table dating to somewhere around 1760.

The table is of a gateleg form with two planks per leaf over a single drawer, turned legs joined together by turned stretchers to the ends and square stretchers to the sides. What makes this table a bit different from other similar tables of the same period is that instead of having a 5th and 6th leg to support the drop leaves when opened, this table has swing out arched supports providing the same function.

The table shows the typical ageing one would be expect from an oak table of this period. There has been some slight worm to one square stretcher, but this is long dead and has been treated to make sure. Other than that the table is in a good antique condition and has been oiled and waxed ready for use. The table is 59 inches (150cm) long, 52 inches (132cm) wide, 28 inches (71.5cm) deep. This table would look great in a country dining room.
