Early Leeds Pottery Blue & White Dish

Description

We have for sale a lovely and rather unusual early blue and white Leeds Pottery shallow dish from the Hartley, Greens & Co period c1783-1825.

This late 18th century or early 19th century circular shallow pottery dish is decorated with a blue and white transfer printed design depicting what looks like cherry blossom over a hexagonal Chinese style trellis. The back of the plate carries the Hartley, Greens & Co over LeedsPottery impressed mark.

The dish is 8.25 inches (21cm) in diameter and stands approximately 1.25 inches (3cm) high. It is in a very good condition with little wear to the decoration, no chips, cracks or repairs, although the Hartley, Greens & Co over LeedsPottery impressed mark is only partially visible. As one would expect from a piece of Leeds Pottery of this age, there is some crazing to the glaze.
