For sale we have a good original example of a gentleman's stainless steel Rolex Oyster wristwatch.

This gentleman's stainless steel sweep second watch with a screw down Rolex crown has an aged silvered dial with an outer minute chapter and an inner hour chapter marked with the gold Rolex crown at the 12 o'clock position Arabic gold numerals at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions and gold batons in all other locations. The dial is signed Rolex, Oyster, Shock Resisting, Swiss. The dial is completed with gold coloured hour and minute hands and a black sweep second hand. All the hands are in a good but aged condition. The aging of the dial suggests that the watch has at some point been left in the sun on a regular basis whilst running. The dial is encapsulated beneath a good clean acrylic crystal. The stainless steel case is in an excellent condition, the milling around the screw down back has not been chewed by inappropriate opening as is the case in many Rolex Oyster watches of this period. However, the case does carry the small surface scratches that one would expect in a 59 year old watch. Removal of the screw in case back reveals that the inside of the case back is signed Montres Rollex SA, Geneva, Switzerland, patented, Stainless Steel, 6246, with the Rolex date code IV55, dating the watch to the 4th quarter of 1955. The inside of the case back also carries numerous servicing marks indicating that the watch has been well maintained during its life. Removal of the case back also reveals the movement that powers the watch. The movement is double signed Rolex, is marked 15 Rubes, Swiss made and carries the the serial number 37242. The movement is in an excellent condition having just been serviced by our watchmaker.

The watch is a small to medium sized watch measuring just under 1 & 1/2 inches (38mm) from lug to lug and is presented on a new black leather strap. This watch like all of our watches is being sold with a full twelve month warranty.

Unfortunately this watch cannot be shipped to the USA because of customs restrictions prohibiting the import of Rolex watches into the USA.
