Description

This unusual sample box made in beech, would have originally been used by a travelling WJ Bush salesman to promote the company's food colourings. WJ Bush & Co Ltd were in existence between 1850 and 1966.

The box contains 4 harmless food colouring bottles - Apple, Violet, French Pink and Bright Red. The bottles are corked, not screw-topped. The liquid in each bottle has gone and only a dried up deposit remains. This quirky box has its original label showing it belonged to the salesman Mr. C. Johnson of Barnsley.

In used vintage condition with minor scratches and stains as you would expect from an item this old. This wear does not detract from its overall appeal but just adds more character. The box has dovetail joints and its original hook closure. Ideal for display.

Dimensions: 30cm x 6cm x 10.5cm
