Description

A stunning chrome plated skirt lifter from the late 1800s with a double sided repousse decoration. This is a wonderful example of these highly collectable skirt lifters, an ingenious invention for clipping to the bottom of a lady's skirt to raise its hem from the dirty Victorian streets.

This skirt lifter is a hinged style with embossed decorative covers. The centre parts moves up and down the handles, when pulled to the top it clamps the ends together tightly. It remains in good condition.

If you are a collector of Victorian fashion accessories, this is a rare model of skirt lifter for your collection.
