Description

This rare Italian Baroque Carved and Painted Wooden Panel, depicts the head of a cherub (or putto) centered by foliage/feathers motives in relief and within a wonderfully decorated surrounding. The stunning decoration of this panel is a typical example of Italian naive faux marble, deliberately painted in vivid intense colour to create the effect of an extraordinary marble which doesn’t exist in reality.
This work of art had been restored, probably in the 80’s, by the Nicola Restauri Studio (a world excellence in the conservative restoration field, for museums, galleries and Institutions for Cultural and Artistic Heritage). Since the restoration some small repairs can be considered for the face of the cherub (see images).
