Paffron and Scott

Description

A set of letters, print frames and paint trays for printing onto sacks. 19th century.

One hundred and four carved wooden letters with at least one of every letter of the alphabet except Z. Plus a dozen smaller letters.

The letters are 10cm high.

By repute from a hardware store in Kings Lynn then found in shed near Swaffham.

A rare survivor, with wonderful layers of encrusted paint. The remains of an old newspaper on the back of the large tray carries the story of The Murder in The Red Barn which took place in 1827.
