Description

George I Longcase Clock with gilt floral decorated to the sides. Long break arch trunk door with beautifully raised Chinoiserie scenes of pavilions and rural life. The plinth also has similar scenes and stands upon skirting.

The break arch hood has side viewing windows and integral pillars with quarter pillars to the back with gilded capitals.

Twelve inch break arch brass dial with wheatear border engraving, silvered chapter ring with Roman numerals and Fleur De Lys half hour markers.

Finely matted centre with silvered seconds dial and calendar aperture. Silvered raised boss to the arch signed ‘Pere. Tawney, London’. Finely pierced ‘blued’ steel hands.

Eight day movement with turned and ringed pillars, anchor escapement with rack striking the hours on a large bell. This fine clock retains it’s original brass cased weights and brass rod pendulum with the unusual feature of a finely decorated pendulum bob with gilt and floral emblems. C.1720
