Description

Rare ceremonial chest of drawers in walnut opening with four curved drawers, with LXIV drop handles with crowned C, low cross carved in the center with a large acanthus leaf and winding at the ends, curved uprights ending in four claw feet which each enclose a sphere. Probably a Gascon work from the region of Auch or Tarbes, LXIV / Regency transition from the first half of the 18th century. The crowned C mark corresponds to the payment between 1745-49 of a tax on all bronze works manufactured or sold at that time. Note a small burn on the plate and very small restorations.
