Description

A dramatic large spongeware jug of fat bellied form with bands of blue, green and pink stenciled patterns and dark green line work to the rim and handle. Spongeware of this size is hard to find and inevitably there has been some restoration. The mid section of the handle has been cracked, broken and repainted by the previous owner but has been done sympathetically and blends in well to the overall piece. It has been priced accordingly. Probably Welsh, late 19th century. 24 cm high.
